Trygve Fredriksen, The Filipstad Banana (1952)
The big banana in the park has been a great inspiration for American Pop Art. As a young boy the American artist Claes Oldenburg travelled by ship to America from Oslo, and became interested in the big banana at the dock. He later became known for his huge versions of everyday objects.
