When Sonja Henie (1912–1969), one of the two donors of Henie Onstad, died, the widower Niels Onstad (1909–1978) ordered a large sculpture to commemorate her.

In addition to the sculpture seen above the ground, there is also a great machinery underneath. The original idea was that the sculpture should move around its own axis in a slow pirouette. But because of gravity, the sculpture was never able to move, and today it welcomes us as a monumental landmark to Høvikodden.
