More about the exhibition: Paul Brand

The Norwegian artist Paul Brand (born 1941 Solothurn, Switzerland) has a special place in the exhibition.

He studied photo and graphic design at Kunstfachschule Biel. He also worked as assistant for the graphic design pioneers Marcel Wyss and Karl Gerstner.

In 1964, Paul Brand moved to Norway. In the first few years he worked in various design and advertising agencies. He was unsure whether a life in this industry was something he really wanted and eventually he became an artist. In the coming years, Paul Brand was involved in several projects at Henie Onstad and designed ten posters for the institution between 1969 and 1973. Many of these unique posters were printed in small print, in exclusive screen printing, often in different color combinations.
