What is communication? The Swedish artist Saskia Holmkvist (b.1971) focuses on how the use of language in different contexts. She works with interviews, talks and staged situations in her films.
We meet actors, police officers, interpreters, psychologists, communication coaches, together with the artist herself in four video installations. Holmkvist has created a new video work in two parts for this exhibition. In Translation (2011) examines the interpreter's role in politics and in the asylum seeker situation. Other films in the exhibition are: Cold-Blooded Company (2010), In Character, Role Control (2008) and Interview with Saskia Holmkvist (2005).
