Milena Høgsberg to Henie Onstad Kunstsenter

Milena Høgsberg (b. 1980) is hired as Acting Chief Curator and Head of Art Department from August 1st 2011.

Milena Høgsberg works in New York, but has Scandinavian roots. She grew up in Denmark, but earned her MA at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College and her BA in Art History at Columbia University (NYC).

- With her international experience both from Scandinavia and America, Høgsberg adds new competence and networks to the Art Centre. Her professional profile is in line with the Art Centres artistic focus and we are looking forward to add Høgsberg to the Henie Onstad-team, says director Karin Hellandsjø.

Milena Høgsberg has curated several exhibitions including group exhibitions such as a Perfect Human (Dorsch Gallery, Miami, 2009), Another Time (Center for Curatorial Studies, 2008) and Manifesting Emptiness (The Betty Rymer Gallery, SAIC, 2007). She worked closely with curator Maria Lind on the The Greenroom: Reconsidering the Documentary and Contemporary Art (The Hessel Museum, 2008). For this project she spearheaded the production of new works, texts on the artists, and curated a visual display of 100 publications relating to the documentary, available for resaerch; a slide lecture performance Spiral Lands by Andrea Geyer; a screening of works by Chantal Akerman; and a TV series of videos by and interviews with participating artists in collaboration with a local public access station.
