Glass studio celebrates 30 years of production

NOV 20 - DEC 20, 2008
30 years ago Ulla Mari Brantenberg and Karen Klim opened the first glass studio in Norway; at Frysja in Oslo. Today, the two artists can look back upon a rich and eventful period of production – working together, and solo. Their work is wide-ranging – from functional objects such as vases and glasses, carafes and plates, to large, public art commissions. To celebrate this jubilee we present a major installation, with work by both artists.

IN PAUL KLEE’S MAGIC GARDEN

OCT 2 - DES 7
Flowers and plants, gardens and parks are central motifs in the oeuvre of the Swiss artist Paul Klee. Some of his work is representational, referring directly to his chosen motifs, whilst other pieces are imaginative, mystical versions that explore an inner landscape.

MODERN ART

THE HENIE ONSTAD ART COLLECTION in collaboration with ANE HJORT GUTTU

NOV 20, 2008 - MAR 8, 2009
Taking as a point of departure artist Ane Hjort Guttu’s interest for the modernisation of Oslo, we have chosen to take Norwegian Abstract modernism as the focal point for our exhibition. The city as “form, rhythm and mechanism” has been chosen as the platform for a large-scale investigation into the formal aspects of the collection’s content. The investigation looks at issues related to how the city developed, what has shaped and changed it and which social and political mechanisms influence the quality of life in a city.
